Back to Northumberland
Berwick-upon-Tweed is a small English market town in the county of Northumberland situated on the River Tweed.  It is about 3 miles from the current Scottish border but several times in it's history it has been part of Scotland.

Nearby Places to Investigate

  • Chain Bridge Honey Farm, situated near Horncliffe, just outside of Berwick.  It specialises in 'natural honey products' including honey on the comb, candles and soaps.  They have a free visitor's centre and a cafe in a double decker bus!        website: www.chainbridgehoney.co.uk
  • Union Chain Bridge, situated near Horncliffe, was opened in 1820 and was is now the 'oldest surviving iron chain suspension bridge still being used in Europe'.                                          website: www.unionchainbridge.com
